My vision for South Africa is: “For all South-Africans to be in a position to provide for their families, to offer their children a future, to make a contribution to their country, to be proud of South Africa and the individual contributions of their compatriots. That each will have the oppportunity to meet and serve Jesus and God the Father”.
This is not depending on the country as such but on us as her people. If each of us does our share, all of us can experience this vision. And it will not happen if we expect others to do it on our behalf – each of us has a specific role to play in the making of this vision. If I am a politician I will have to ensure that I am sufficiently informed to help make the proper strategic decisions for South Africa to prosper. If I am a government employee I have to be diligent and committed to implement government strategy and plans and serve the public. If I am a businessman I have to work hard and wise to grow my business so that other South Africans will have a job to earn an income. If I am an employee I have to give my best so that my company may grow and prosper.
Regardless of what my role in South Africa is, I must be honest, hard-working and respectful of others. If some of us do not pull our weight, we will be piggy-backing on our fellow countryman and weighing them down to a point where even the most committed will not be able to carry the country any further.
Once each of us is capable of providing for our families because all of us are doing our part, we will be able to provide our children with a bright future. They will grow up in happy, caring families and be able to attend a school in which the teachers know their subjects and are committed to teach the children what they know. Now the children of our children will have even better opportunities than their parents – building upon the fortunes of their ancestors.
If each of us do our best in our daily role, we will push South Africa forward to where she has not been before. And you will be part of the success story. We will have a country to be proud of – even though our country is rich in her diversity and potential it is meaningless if her people do not build upon that potential to create the greatest country in the world. And each of us will have to acknowledge that without my compatriots I would not have been able to pull it off. No one’s contribution is less important than the other – we are all required to make this work.
And yes, there will be some of us who believe we do not need God in any of this – we can do this alone. But there are many of us who know that that is not true. God has given us this country and we have to honour His name by giving our best. He is our guidance, our help and our ultimate goal. Inkosi sikelel’ iSouth Africa!
