Imagine your life can be perfect. Everything you consider important in life has happened, and is happening in your life. You are entirely satisfied that you have achieved your ideal life. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate goal of life and worth aiming for?
How does a fulfilled life look?
I am sure you can immediately think of a number of things which a fulfilled life should include, but in the end, I would say, it is all about you being happy, being at peace. It would be pointless to possess anything else if it did not bring you peace and happiness. Anything more than that is just a bonus, a nice to have.
How do I get a fulfilled life?
Now psychiatrists say that peace and happiness are not something we can pursue. It is the result of a life filled with meaning. And Í am saying that, by following your heart, that is, doing whatever is most important to you at any given point in time, gives meaning in your life.
Does this mean I can do whatever I like?
Well, if it is more important to you than any of the other options you have, you should. Remember, God has made you and, therefore, your talents, your passions and your personality is what He had in mind for you. What burns in your heart at any given point in time is based upon this fact.
For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13 AMP
But what God intends you to do with what He has made you, is just as important. Therefore, you have to check with Him before you make decisions. Acquaint yourself with what God considers to be important for you personally. And the closer your relationship with Him becomes, the more your heart and intuition becomes aligned with His will.
Acquaint now yourself with Him [agree with God and show yourself to be conformed to His will] and be at peace; by that [you shall prosper and great] good shall come to you.
Job 22:21 AMPC
With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.
Proverbs 3:5-6 CEV
Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
Philippians 4:7 CEV
Now, my son, listen carefully to what I want you to do.
Genesis 27:8 CEV
The Lord gives perfect peace to those whose faith is firm. So always trust the Lord because he is forever our mighty rock.
Isaiah 26:3-4 CEV
Follow your heart in all the important aspects of life
Remind yourself frequently to follow your heart in all these important aspects of a fulfilled life:
- In the now and seeing it in the context of your past and future
- In all the building blocks of a balanced and effective life
- Being successful and following your calling
- Your role as a leader
Life-fulfilment is not something that is only evaluated at the end of your life. It is the result of all the decisions you have made in every moment throughout your life. Therefore, follow your heart in every moment, thereby making the best of each moment towards a fulfilled life.
Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Gil Bailie
Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.
Romans 12:2 TPT
Life-fulfilment is to follow, moment by moment, your God-focused heart
